PKR Arsari (Riau)
The Riau Conservation Centre (PKR Arsari) is one of the successful implementations of YAD’s vision and mission. It was first initiated in response to human and wildlife conflict that occurred in Riau in 2018, which eventually led to a collaboration between YAD and Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA) Riau in 2020.
PKR Arsari plays a crucial role in supporting the Indonesian government’s efforts to conserve endangered animals in the region.
PKR Arsari’s activities include:
- Wildlife Rescue: The centre provides temporary care for animals that are surrendered, confiscated, or involved in human-wildlife conflict. These animals receive attention and rehabilitation until they can be released back into their natural habitats.
- Biodiversity Protection: PKR Arsari actively safeguards and conserves biodiversity in Riau through patrols, wildlife rescue operations, and public awareness campaigns.
- Veterinary Clinic: This facility is used to provide medical care and rehabilitation for rescued animals.
