The year 2021 is still a difficult year for us, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the catastroph-ic floods that occurred. However, our team has tried their best to make 2021 a good one. This year with West Kalimatan BKSDA team we evacuated 1 baby orangutan on January 21, 2021 from Sekadau District and translocated 1 juvenile orangutan from Tangerang City, West Java, on April 30, 2021.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, orangutan release ac- tivities in 2020 cannot be carried out, so in 2021 we have conducted 3 releases with West Kalimantan BKSDA and Betung Kerihun and Danau Sentarum Na- tional Park teams with a total of 8 individuals released. In which 7 orangutans came from the Tembak Forest School and 1 orangutan from the Jerora Forest School.
This year with Betung Kerihun and Danau Sentarum Na- tional Park team we also distributed educational scho- larships for children from around the orangutan release sites by providing educational assistance such as school textbooks and school supplies for elementary, junior high and high school students. This activity was carried out on May 10, 2021 in Kapuas Hulu Regency.
This year our team has also carried out socialization and awareness activities, offline and online, about orangutans to the wider public. The offline socialization activities were carried out 3 times and online 2 times.
On behalf of the SOC team, we would like to thank you very much for the assistance and donations that have been given during 2021. Without your love, care and assistance, it would be difficult for us to continue our Orang-utan rehabilitation program in Sintang. May next year be a better year for all of us and our red haired friends!
