Lanustika’s Homecoming to the Wild

ARSARI Djojohadikusumo Foundation (YAD), as the manager of the Dharmasraya Sumatran Tiger Rehabilitation Center (PR-HSD) ARSARI, together with the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry through the West Sumatra dan Riau BKSDA, successfully released a Sumatran Tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) on Saturday, March 26, 2022.

The process began with a medical examination two days earlier on March 24, 2022 to ensure that the female Sumatran tiger was in perfect condition for release. The Release Team, along with the Heads of West Sumatra and Riau BKSDA and their entourage, made a 20 hour journey and finally witnessed Lanustika coming out of the transport cage at 08.20 WIB on Saturday, March 26, 2022.

Lanustika was rescued on May 10, 2021 by a joint team of YAD and Riau BKSDA from a conflict with human communities at Teluk Lanus Village, Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency, Riau Province. She began undergoing rehabilitation at PR-HSD ARSARI in September 2021. .
