PR-HSD Arsari (West Sumatra)
The Sumatran Tiger Rehabilitation Centre Dharmasraya (PR-HSD Arsari) was established in 2017 in West Sumatra. It covers a 10-hectare area within the 2400-hectare Prof. Sumitro Djojohadikusumo conservation area (AK-PSD), which is owned by PT Tidar Kerinci Agung. The centre plays a crucial role in the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of endangered animals, including Sumatran tigers and other endemic species.
The team has rescued and rehabilitated 16 Sumatran tigers at the facility and has released 10 Sumatran tigers. Currently, PR-HSD Arsari is rehabilitating 2 Sumatran tigers in the site.
In addition to carrying out rescue, rehabilitation, and release programmes, PR-HSD Arsari also conducts research, internships, and capacity-building activities. They engage in community awareness campaigns and participate in discussions on Essential Ecosystem Areas (KEE) for managing the South Solok-Dharmasraya Tiger Corridor and National Innovation.
PR-HSD Arsari received a Charter of Appreciation for Cooperation and Concern in the World of Conservation from the West Sumatra BKSDA. Additionally, the West Sumatra BKSDA proposed PR-HSD Arsari as a candidate for appreciation from the Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) in 2024.
