Salam lestari,

This month’s YAD News comes to you with the 5th Anniversary of PR-HSD ARSARI commemorated on 29 July alongside the World Tiger Day as its headline. The theme was Devotion towards Conservation of Sumatran Tigers. This issue also discusses tiger behavior assessment at PR-HSD to determine their readiness to be released back into the wild.

There are also interesting articles on environmental conservation front, including the Animal Transit Center, which is YAD’s contribution to Riau Natural Resources Conservation Center (BBKSDA) in efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and release wildlife. From another island, the PSO-ARSARI veterinary team shared with us about their participation in the Orangutan Veterinary Advisory Group workshop in Yogyakarta on 17-21 July 2022.

On the cultural front, YAD’s Cultural Division with our partner the Indonesian Heritage Trust (BPPI), shared a travel report in participating in the traditional ceremony of Seren Taun 22 Rayagung 1955 Saka. This ceremony was conducted at the Paseban Building in Cigugur, Kuningan, by the indigenous community of the Sunda Wiwitan.

This edition of YAD News also highlighted the inspirational figure of I Gusti Ayu Shintya Muliarta, a YAD scholarship recipient and a young lady with high academic achievements and spirit of solidarity.
